Last Minute tour Details

Dear SQHS choir parents,

12 hours to go!!

The students are so excited and so am I!! we are going to have a great time!

There is one last detail, the behavior contract. This is an important agreement between you and me and your child that makes it clear what is expected of them and their behavior with the important point being that if the contract is breeched then the student will be sent home at the expense of the parents. We are hoping that this won’t happen but it never hurts to cover your bases J.

On one hand I apologize for getting this out so late, on the other hand I hope this will inspire an opportunity to sit down and go through this and have a candid conversation with your student on the eve of our departure. Timing is everything J

Two more details:

1.       We have decided to give ourselves a bit more cushion in the travel time to SeaTac. The bus will arrive at 3:00am and we will depart at 3:15.

2.       I would suggest arranging a way to not leave your car at SQHS over the weekend. There are several arrangements being made to drop off kids and pick up cars in the morning etc.

Double check

1.       A carry on (The maximum dimensions for an à la cart bag is 10" H x 17" W x 24" L (25 x 43 x 61 cm) including wheels and handles) and a Back pack both of which should have no liquids over 3oz. Any  bottles of liquids should be in a clear plastic bag and easily accessible by TSA.

Make sure students have ID on them. WA state ID or School issued ID card. Passport or birth certificate work as well.

Swim suit and Sunblock and Hat! And a water bottle would be good too.

OK I think that’s it.

11.5 hours to go!

Time for bed!

Subject: The Coats are Coming Again.........

The Coats Vocal Band is coming back to Bellingham High School on Saturday, Dec. 6th for a concert starting at 7:30 p.m.

This is a wonderful way to start your holiday season.  These 4 extremely talented singers create and perform beautiful harmonies to memorable seasonal songs and have a wonderfully open and funny stage presence.  In addition the concert will begin with the Sehome Chamber Choir, the Squalicum Storm Singers, and the Bellingham Showstoppers.  We also have a surprise Grand Finale planned for you this year and the Coats mystery guest will be a wonderful surprise to everyone.

After our more than sell-out crowd at the BHS Creepy Cabaret, you will want to buy your tickets early and not just because we plan to sell-out for this concert, BUT because you get a BIG discount for buying your tickets EARLY!

All tickets sold through Nov. 25th, including at the Bellingham High School Fall Concert that night will be $15.00.  Every ticket sold from Nov. 26th on, including those sold at the door will be $20.00 each.

Tickets can be purchased now at the BHS ASB Office and starting later today at Village Books and the Food Co-op at Cordata.  If you want to have your building sign up for a block of tickets, just have one person collect your money, email me, and we will send a student to your building to trade you tickets for the money you have collected.
Such a deal!

We look forward to seeing you at this memorable event!

All state info

Dear storm choir families.

Several students have shown interest in auditioning for Allstate this year. All students that are interested would have gotten and audition packet today in class. In that packet there is one sheet towards the back that must be filled out and returned to me signed by a parent. The instructions for auditioning are on the very back page.

The $20 fee for auditioning is waived because Squalicum high school is a group member of WMEA.

If your student is excepted for Allstate, or all Northwest, the fee is $325. Squalicum high school will pay half of that fee if your student is excepted. In your package is also a scholarship application. Please fill that out and turn it in at the time of your audition I have never had a student turned down but there is always a first time for everything.

Auditions will be held Monday during lunch and after school untill 7, and Tuesday during lunch.

I hope to be auditioning most of the students on Monday. Please be prepared by practicing before excerpts before you come into my office so that we can do it quickly and efficiently and get your best recordings.

Good luck everyone!

PS I had to leave fifth period yesterday to go to the hospital with abdominal pain.  I just wanted to let you all know that I'm doing fine they think it was either a kidney stone or an affection both of which are short-term and not to serious, all be it moderately painful. Men's chorus did a great job working on their own without me there.
