Retreat Success!

Last Saturday was the best Choir retreat yet!!

we worked hard on music and got some different point of views from some amazing singers. I would like to thank Campbell Thibo and Jessica Lewis for their great work in helping us progress on our path to healthy and powerful singing.

Not only did we come away with some musical improvement but our motivation was boosted too. In our goal making session we constructed a linear framework for how we will get to the peak of our year, which is an incredible performance in Washington D.C.!

Also, it is nice to see the blue yarn around school and know that choir is always connected at SQHS.(ask your student about the blue yarn)

As usual thanks to the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship for the FREE use of their space. it is a great place to get away and do our work.

The tickets for the Lynden Music festival have arrived so you can check them out from Ms Swan in the ASB office. You make $7 on every ticket sold which is pretty darn good profit so get Crackin'

First Booster Communication of the Year

Hi to all Concert and Storm Choir Parents -

We enjoyed a very informative Booster Club Meeting last Thursday the 22nd, had a good turnout and we were able to secure volunteers for most of the needed positions.

We do however need someone interested in taking the lead on the Choir Program that is usually sold at concerts beginning in mid December. The previous Chairperson is willing to work together and teach the new chairperson everything they need to know and has said it was fun and easy :) This was done in a Publisher Program and printed locally. Ideally a couple of parents would work on this together. Please reply to this email with any questions you have and we will make sure to get them answered quickly...thank you in advance for your help with this.

Because the Choir Tour is planned for 3/29-4/4, with the first payment due to the ASB office by this Friday the 30th, we focussed a lot of our meeting around the topic of fundraising that can take place between now and February.
Fundraising ideas that were discussed, or are already underway:
- Dessert Auction - same night as the 1st concert - October 25th - Dianne Boyd

- Working with the Band / Orchestra on an auction
- Selling Entertainment Books - now
- Cabaret - January ?

Retreat Tomorrow!!

Dear Parents and choristers of Concert choir,

The annual Concert choir retreat is tomorrow and we are in for some fun times! we will be at the Bellingham Unitarian fellowship located at

1708 I Street,

The Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship is directly across from the Roeder building (Bellingham School District administrative building) Off of Dupont St turn on to "I" street and take a right on Ellsworth. Park in the Gravel lot across from the church. Lunch will be provided by our awesome parent boosters!. Fun will be had by All!

Also Jessica Lewis will be working with the Girls in the morning. EXCITING!

Reminder: Sell Books!! Also the First payment of $200 for tour is due the 30th of September not the 3rd of October which is what I said in my last post.

First Choir tour Payment

Dear Parents and Choristers,

Choir tour payment of $200 is due Monday October 3rd to the ASB office. Some of us have already made that tour payment in entertainment book sales. Way to go!!

Tour Meeting Reminder

Dear Sqhs Concert Choir Parents,

The rep from “Music Celebrations International” (Our Tour Company) is coming to SQHS on Monday Sept 12 at 7pm to talk to us about our fantastic Washington DC tour that they have put together for us.

The 3 Music Directors have put a lot of effort into refining the tour based on your input from our meeting last spring and other meetings. We feel like this is a very exciting option and we are looking forward to presenting it to you. Attached is a PDF of the proposed itinerary and Payment plan for you to peruse and generate questions for us or the Rep on Monday.

Back to School night is the following night (Tuesday the 12th) which is a lot of meeting time for you but I hope you will make it so that you can participate as much as possible in the preparation for this great tour.
