SJMEA Choir Festival this friday!!

Dear Parents of SQHS Choirs,

This Friday May 29 is the San Juan Music Educators Choir Festival. This festival is held at Western Washington University in the Concert Hall located in the Performing Arts Center on High St.  All of our choirs will be attending. (Man choir, Choraliers, Mixed choir, Concert Choir and Storm Singers). This Festival will be judged by 4 Professional choir directors from all over the state of WA from whom we will receive a rating. Every High School in the region will attend and we will get a chance to hear several stunning performances over the course of the day. This festival is the culmination of lots of hard work and a measure of our progress. Your student’s attendance is very important. Several families have talked to me about Students leaving for vacation early. PLEASE let me know ASAP if you are planning on not being at this festival. A choir only works when there are people there and if we are missing any more we will not be able to make an accurate representation of what we can actually do as a choir. We will not be having the festival on this day next year. It was unfortunate planning this year.

This Friday March 29^th is the last day before Spring Break and a 6 period Early Release Schedule. Students will be released at 11:15am and there will be busses that leave the school at that time. You will see from the schedule below that Students in Mixed choir and Man choir will be performing until 2:30 so they will be arriving back at SQHS around 2:45. Please arrange transportation for your child who is arriving at that time.    You should have seen an absence contract last week, Attached to this letter is the Permission slip. Please have this signed and turned in to me by Thursday Mar 28.  

Our Itinerary for Friday Mar 29th is as follows (please Read Carefully):

8am – 2 Busses depart from SQHS (Mixed choir Students should be Dressed in concert attire and everyone else should have robes and storm gear. Man choir please were all Black)

8:25 – arrive at the PAC at WWU for registration

8:45 – Choraliers Warm Up

9am – Choraliers perform

10am – Concert choir Perform

10:45 – Bus1 Leaves for SQHS to catch the Early Release busses (only Concert choir and Choraliers People that need to catch the bus should be on this bus)

11am – Storm Singers Performs

11:45 – 12:30 Lunch (please either have students bring a Sack lunch or have them bring $8-$10 to buy lunch at WWU)

12:15 Man choir Warm Up

12:30 Man choir Performance

1:30 Mixed choir Performance

2:30 Bus 2 Departs from WWU High Street.

2:45 Students arrive at SQHS for Pick up.

I NEED CHAPERONS FOR THIS EVENT. Please let me know if you are able to spend the day with us. I love and trust my students but 100+ kids at WWU, unattended, while I am conducting does not sound like my idea of fun. Chaperons needed!! Please respond.
